As a work at home mom, I know about both the stress of balancing career with home life and the rewards of being home with your children while "staying in the game."
I began successfully working at home five years ago when I moved from New York City to Oklahoma to join my husband as he completed military training.
When I lived in New York, I worked in a top suburban school district and my husband worked for one of the most prestigious law firms in the city. I considered returning to teaching, but the task of re-certifying each time we moved to a new state and the drop and salary were discouraging. Besides, we were hoping to start a family soon. I wondered if, perhaps, there was another way.
Five years, a baby with a heart defect, a deployment (for my husband), and many writing gigs (some long term, some short term, some by the piece) later, I can tell you it is possible to be very successful working from home.
This site is not about gimmicks. It is not about scams. It is about how I, and others like me, have found a way to stay home while still making money and having professional fulfillment.
